Quirky Books for Quirky People–New Thoughts on Writing and Publishing in the Digital Frontier

I get a lot of questions about software, writing-related books, and the like. I thought I’d put together a list of items that I recommend to all those write, or want to.

Scrivener is my preferred writing software, and it’s absolutely mandatory for anyone who wants to write seriously. It is to writing what Final Cut Pro is to video editing. It allows you to restructure and reorganize your work dynamically. You can also store research (including drawings, web links, video clips, etc.) right in the document itself, so that you can access your information without having to keep multiple windows open.

Scrivener is available in the following editions:

Mac OS X (US $45) [Standard License]

Mac OS X (US $38.25) [Educator/Student License]

Windows (US $40) [Standard License]

Windows (US $35) [Educator/Student License]

Whichever version you get, it will be the best money you’ll ever spend on your writing career.

More to come!
